Spiritual Direction.

Let’s be honest…marriage is hard.

2 people trying to figure out 1 life together.
2 journeys merging into 1 path.
2 becoming 1.

One of the chief tactics of the enemy, Satan, is isolation. He deceitfully tries to convince us that we are alone. No one understands. Our marriage is just destined to be mediocre and dull. The truth is Jesus came to bring freedom and life. Our marriages are the perfect place for Jesus to do what only He can do. Marriage is a pathway for God to work in us and expose our sin, selfishness, and pride. It is also the pathway for Him to heal, comfort, and

grow us. As one author says, “marriage is not meant to make you happy, but holy.”

But how? Who can help us?

Spiritual Direction is the one-on-one ministry of Marriage Encounter. It is personal. It is intimate. It is intense. It is life-changing. Our “present-tense” struggles are always rooted in the past. Spiritual Direction helps to uncover what God is up to in exposing your present struggles in marriage. It is an intentional effort to bring healing to your relationship and marriage.

Some common questions about Spiritual Direction for couples…

Who is involved?
Melody and Randy meet with a couple, both individually and together.  This time is set aside for you and your spouse. No one else.  It does involve a great commitment on the couple’s side to time, personal work, and honesty.

When do you meet?
There are specific times of the week that are set aside for Spiritual Direction.  Each meeting together typically last 1-2 hours.  On average, you can expect 2-3 meetings per month with assignments in between.

How much does it cost?
Encounter is a non-profit ministry solely supported by individuals and families who believe in setting hearts free through Jesus Christ.  So, with Spiritual Direction, we do not charge a “fee” on a “per-hour” basis.  We trust that couples will support the ministry and enable us to fight for marriages.  The bottom-line is…if people do not support and give, we are not able to meet and grow marriages.

What can I expect for my marriage?
You can expect that God will speak and bring healing to your relationship.  It will be hard.  It will expose.  It will be painful at times.  But, through the process, freedom will come for your marriage.  You will begin to experience life in your relationship.
